Upgrade of Firefox Empty Upgrade of Firefox

Post  mvpatrick Tue Nov 19, 2013 3:59 pm

We just upgraded to Firefox ESR 24 and the PP settings are no longer applied.

Client is Windows XP. I verified that the PP GPO is being applied via RSOP.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Also, there does not appear to be a ppComputer.log file anywhere. Is that an issue?

Does the GPO have to be enforced for it to work properly on Windows XP?

FYI... The exact same PP GPO works perfectly on Windows 7.

I am betting that the GPO will have to be set to "enforced" to function on Windows XP.

Upgrade of Firefox Empty Run ppLOGS

Post  jeremym Tue Nov 19, 2013 6:14 pm

When in doubt: Run PPLOGS. :-)

The ppcomputer log should be in %programdata% (usually.)

See if you're getting the GPO first, then if yes, what PP thinks is happening.

There's nothing in the existing PP ESR 17 pak that would prevent it from applying (that is, there's no internal ILT to prevent it.)

This is Windows XP so there is no %PROGRAMDATA%

I checked in the user profile and there is no ppComputer.log file.

I ran ppLogs and the ZIP file does not contain a ppComputer.log file either.

Am I missing something simple here?

I made a change to the PP GPO and my Windows 7 PC was updated (almost) instantly. However, my Windows XP PC has still not updated.

What is my issue? Thanks.

Upgrade of Firefox Empty Ya gotta go back to the basics.

Let's take it back to the 20 yard line:

1. Are you getting the GPO?
2. Does GPresult /h show PP data inside the report?
3. Any errors in the event log showing that the GPO is not getting there, etc.
4. Can you create a brand new GPO .. and.. say.. NOT use firefox, like Winzip, and see if *THAT* applies?

We need to narrow it down.

RSOP indicates the PP GPO is applied.

Why would there not be a ppComputer.log file?

I ended up uninstalling and then reinstalling the PP CSE on Windows XP.

It seems to have corrected the issue for now.

Thanks.
